fediverse
I haven't been working on blog posts for a little while now. I've been distracted (temporarily) by getting set up on The Fediverse via Writing Exchange on Mastodon. It has been interesting. I went into it viewing it as a way to shamelessly promote this blog.
After using it for a few days now, I find myself being drawn to participating in ways that I never felt the need to when I tried out mainstream social media. It has a vibe of nostalgia that brings me back to my early days of using the internet on the very first PC I ever owned. I think of Windows95, the dial up handshake noise, random strangers on ICQ (oh-oh!). I think of chat rooms, bulletin boards, and of what blogging was before the word 'blog' existed. Before internet access was mobile.
As I learn new things, my presence on ‘the fedi’ will evolve I suppose. It will happen slowly. I don't have a lot of free time in my life, especially during the week.
